Catherine Roozen, Edmonton, Vice Chair

Catherine Roozen Term to March 31, 2015. Director and Secretary, Cathton Investments Ltd. and the Allard Foundation. Board member, Melcor Developments Ltd. and Corus Entertainment Inc.

Catherine Roozen has an extensive background in board governance, particularly in health services.

Born and raised in Edmonton, Ms. Roozen is well-known in the Alberta business community. Following graduation with a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Alberta, she joined the North West Trust Company, where she became Vice-President, Investments. In 1981, she moved to Cathton Investments Ltd., a private investment company with interests in banking, broadcasting, ranching and real estate development. Ms. Roozen is currently a director and secretary of the boards of the Allard Foundation Ltd. and Cathton Investments Ltd.

Ms. Roozen has also been a director of the American Bank, in Phoenix, Arizona, and Shaw Communications Inc., and currently serves on the boards of directors of Melcor Developments Ltd. and Corus Entertainment Inc.

In 2013, Ms. Roozen joined the distinguished ranks of the Alberta Order of Excellence in recognition of her diverse and longstanding contributions to health care, business and her community. Ms. Roozen's community involvement has included service on the boards of directors of the Edmonton General Hospital (Grey Nuns), Shock Trauma Air Rescue Society, The Alberta Cancer Board, and current involvement on the Strategy Council of the Mazankowski Alberta Heart Institute. She has also co-chaired University of Alberta Fundraising Campaigns.

In her personal time, Ms. Roozen enjoys gardening and reading.
