John Lehners, Grande Prairie, Member

John LehnersTerm to March 31, 2014. Partner, Beairsto, Lehners, Ketchum Engineering Ltd.. Trustee, Grande Prairie School District.

John Lehners was born, raised, educated, and works in Grande Prairie. He is currently a senior partner with Beairsto, Lehners, Ketchum Engineering Ltd. and is a recent chair of the Grande Prairie Public School District.

Mr. Lehners' post-secondary education includes completing engineering studies at the universities of Alberta and Calgary. In 1986, he graduated with a bachelor of science degree majoring in civil engineering from the University of Alberta. Subsequent to that he received his accreditation as an Alberta Land Surveyor in 1998. He presently leads the structural and planning departments in the firm.

Mr. Lehners has served as the chair of Peace River Branch of the Association of Professional Engineers, Geologists, and Geophysicists of Alberta and President of the Swan City Rotary Club. Past affiliations and involvements include the South Peace Ball Association, Grande Prairie Minor Hockey, Grande Prairie Referees’ Association, the National Junior A Hockey Championships and the Swanavon Neighbourhood and Parent Council Associations.

In his role with the Grande Prairie Public School District John has sat on numerous committees and is part of the team responsible for transformational change in the District; moving it from traditional substandard outcomes to a leading edge district with greatly improved results and improved opportunities for its’ students.
