Health On the Net Foundation
Many healthcare information sites on the internet subscribe to the HON (Health On the Net Foundation) Code of Conduct - probably one of the best available guarantees of quality medical information. This is HON's own searchable resource. HONSelect offers a search of selected Web sites, journal articles, medical news and multimedia (including medical images and movies). Also accessible from this site, MedHunt is a searchable database of healthcare websites, hospitals and patient support. Web sites included are reviewed and appropriately labelled if they are subscribers to the HON Code of Conduct. The site is also available in French.
MedExplorer
A searchable directory of medical and healthcare information sites. As well as listing hundreds of medical information web sites, clinical trials information, a food and nutrition database and online discussions, MedExplorer also lists 250 medical newsgroups worldwide, medical conference information, medical resources for users of Palm and Handspring PDA devices and more.
Mednets - Medical Search Engines Databases
A site which lists hundreds of specialized medical search engines, organized by medical specialty. The bonus is that not only can you locate an engine - using the Mednets tool, you can actually search those resources from this one site. You can control the 'depth and breadth' of penetration of the various databases by setting how long the Mednets metasearch engine spends at each engine. This is most useful for health professionals, rather than consumers seeking healthcare information.
MEDLINEplus
The National Library of Medicine's Medlineplus is a consumer-oriented way of searching MEDLINE. This service is 'for anyone with a medical question'. Information about diseases and conditions is clustered to link users to information from a variety of other websites. You can search the site and locate reports which give some information and also link to other web pages as well as to dynamic searches of the medical literature in MEDLINE.

Some of the information is syndicated from elsewhere (e.g.Centerwatch clinical trials); other information is only to be found at WebMD and sister sites. Of particular use are the medical encyclopedia, and a library of ask-an-expert questions and answers.
