Volunteers demonstrate the power of caring

April 17, 2009

National Volunteer Week: April 19 - 25, 2009

Volunteers from Milk River to High Level, from Canmore to Provost dedicated thousands of hours of their time last year to health care. Time spent improving the lives of patients, enhancing our programs, and helping our staff.

One AHS volunteer says she can't imagine her week without her Monday volunteer shift.

"It gives me satisfaction to meet new people especially when I can make them smile or laugh." She adds that she is tired when her shift is done, but satisfied.

Volunteers demonstrate daily, the power of giving, sharing and caring. They bring vitality to our programs and facilities. Volunteers work as porters, ice water deliverers, entertainers, greeters and more. The contribution volunteers make to the lives of our patients, residents, clients and staff can't be measured. Thank you!

During National Volunteer week, April 19 - 25, events will be held across the province to show our appreciation for the work they do.

If you are interested in volunteering, please contact your nearest health facility.
