Community Coalitions

Addiction & Mental Health

Community coalitions across the province work to prevent and reduce the harm of alcohol and other drugs, support recovery, and promote mental well-being through local community-based prevention projects that build on the strengths and resilience of individuals, families, and communities.

AHS supports local substance use prevention coalitions and other groups in rallying their communities to prevent and reduce problems with alcohol and other substances, support recovery and improve mental wellness. There are more than 70 community coalitions registered in the province.

AHS provides consultations and funding to registered community coalitions to undertake actions such as strategic planning, training or other program development which will strengthen the coalition’s ability, motivation and capacity to prevent and reduce problems with alcohol and other substances, support recovery and improve mental wellness.
