AHS Values Discussion: General Forum

I am very pleased to share the new AHS values.

These values are the result of months of consultation within the organization, and also with several of our external partners. These are the values that will guide our actions and behaviours as we work to achieve our vision: Healthy Albertans. Healthy Communities. Together. Our five core values are:

compassion: We show kindness and empathy for all in our care, and for each other.

accountability: We are honest, principled and transparent.

respect: We treat others with respect and dignity.

excellence: We strive to be our best and give our best.

safety: We place safety and quality improvement at the centre of all our decisions.

Living our values will require deliberate and intentional focus from everyone at AHS – from our Board to clinical frontlines, support services, corporate offices and our volunteers.

Recognizing this need, Senior Leadership Team took time this morning to consider and discuss what it will mean to live the five values at AHS.

I’ve shared a few other thoughts related to living our values on my latest video blog.

By giving examples of our values in action, we can all see the power of values to improve the health system for everyone. Please post a comment below and share your stories.
