Making the Interview List

We review all applications. If you are one of the applicants we feel matches up well with our needs, you are shortlisted for an interview. Only those selected for an interview are contacted.

Your Interview

In most cases, you are invited to meet with us face-to-face. If this isn’t possible, we may interview you by phone. Our goal is to see if your education, abilities, experience and personality make you a good fit for the job - and our team. Often, you are invited to ask questions of your own.


If we feel you are the right fit for the position, we ask you for two or more work references. Our follow-up may include confirming your education, previous salary, employment history and work habits.

Your Offer of Employment

Congratulations! We think you are the best person for the job. We phone you with an offer of employment. Afterwards, we send you a written Letter of Offer. If you agree with its terms and conditions, you sign it and return it to us.

Before You Start

Your employment is conditional on you undergoing a security check within 90 days prior to your start date. For some positions, you may also need to provide proof you are licenced to practice in Alberta.

Sometimes our internal candidates are successful on new career opportunities which mean external candidates need to apply on more than one or two competitions before they are short listed. AHS has hired employees who applied many times before starting a career with us. Keep trying!
