Newborn Hearing Screening Program

A probe is placed in the infant's ear which produces soft tones. The probe detects how the inner ear responds to these tones.
Nurses complete the screening.
Audiologists and their support staff complete further assessment or follow-up if necessary.

Age: Newborns up to 6 months of age

Level of Service: Clinical

Setting: Hospital Inpatient Health Centre

Program Provision: Screening (individual)

Rehab Discipline: Audiology

Integrated Team: Nursing (RN), Physician (MD), Rehab Support Staff
