Psychosocial and Spiritual Resources Program - Arts in Medicine
As an alternative to the usual support groups, cancer patients and family members may take classes in soapstone carving, painting, quilting, writing, sculpting, music and other forms of creative expression.
The Arts in Medicine classes are taught by professional artists and are facilitated by psychologists or social workers.
Patients and family members who are interested in singing may join the Hot Cross Singers, the Cross Cancer Institute choir.
Additionally, one-day Arts in Medicine retreats are offered throughout the year for people with specific types of cancer.
On a limited basis we have a Professional Art Therapist available for individual counselling.
