Immunization - Adult and Seniors Services
Immunization is a lifelong process. Alberta Health Services provides routine immunization for adults and seniors.
It is recommended that all Albertans receive a primary seris of Tetanus and Diphtheria vaccine followed by booster dose every 10 years. Tetanus and Diphtheria vaccine is routinely given to infants and young children, however adults who have not previously received this vaccine should have a primary immunization series. Other vaccines may be recommended or necessary based on risk factors related to your job, an underlying medical condition, lifestyle issues and/or age.
All adults / seniors should receive a dose of Influenza vaccine annually.
Pneumococcal vaccine is recommended for all seniors 65 years of age and older and adults with high risk medical conditions.
