Always call 911 for Emergencies.
Emergency Departments:
- see critically ill or injured patients on a priority basis. If people go to Emergency Departments for non-urgent care, staff will attend to less urgent cases as soon as possible.
- provide medical assistance, assessment and treatment
- stabilize the patient and preparation for transport to a higher level of care facility, if necessary
- follow-up care may include referral to a Family Physician or to a Specialist
