Therapeutic Recreation Services
Therapeutic recreation enhances the abilities necessary for clients to maintain active involvement in recreational and leisure activities. It addresses the physical, mental and spiritual dimensions of the healing equation. Recreation therapy assists clients' rehabilitation by offering recreational and other activities based on assessing past, present and future interests, intended to promote recovery and wellness. Therapeutic recreation also addresses the social needs of clients, in avoiding the problems of loneliness and isolation. It can be instrumental in facilitating the adjustment to placement within care facilities by providing linkages between people. Therapeutic recreation can also be involved in providing a wide variety of enjoyable opportunities for physical and mental exercise, which are effective in relieving stress. This therapeutic process is not limited to special populations, but may be applied with any individual who desires to maintain or improve his/her level of health.
