Diagnostic Imaging
Radiology is one form of Diagnostic Imaging that involves the production of images of internal body structures to aid in the diagnosis of injury or disease using energy sources such as the high frequency electromagnetic radiation (x-ray). We provide general and special procedure radiology services in a number of the Healthcare Centres.
Special procedures may include:
- Barium studies
- Hysterosalpingiogram
- IVP's
- Venograms voiding Cystograms
- Modified Barium Swallows
- PICC Lines
- Joint Injections
CT Scans, also known as CAT Scans (Computed Axial Tomography), have the unique ability to provide an image of a combination of soft tissue, bone and blood vessels. CT scans can be used to detect:
- detecting brain bleeding
- lung tumours
- heart disease
- acute stroke
- vascular disease
- detection of osteoporosis
- detection of cancer
Ultrasound involves the production of images of internal body structures to aid in the diagnosis of injury or disease using energy sources such as high frequency sound (ultrasound).
We do:
- general ultrasound
- obstertrics (maternity)
- abdominal
- 2D venous Doppler
- Gynecological/Pelvic
- Renal
- Superficial mass
- Thyroid
Fluoroscopy is a study of moving body structures, similar to an x-ray "movie." A continuous x-ray beam is passed through the body part being examined, and is transmitted to a TV-like monitor so that the body part and its motion can be seen in detail.
Mammography aids in the diagnosis of medical conditions with regard to breast tissue.
All diagnostic imaging procedures are different from one another, so we encourage clients to contact their physicians for specific instructions.
Not all locations will offer all the diagnostic imaging services.
