Volunteer Resources
It is said that those who can, do; and those who can do more, volunteer
By volunteering, you are choosing the rewarding field of health-care. By assisting professional staff to provide care to patients, residents, clients and their families, whether on the front lines or behind the scenes, be assured that your efforts are making a positive difference in the lives of others.
Volunteer opportunities are as diverse as volunteers themselves. Volunteer Resources is committed to ensuring that volunteers have a rewarding and valuable experience. It’s important that you enjoy your volunteer placement. Note that not all facilities offer similar volunteer opportunities.
If interested in volunteering with Alberta Health Services, contact the facility where you would like to volunteer. Contact information has been provided on each site’s page. Volunteer Resources can advise you of available programs and can send you an application package. Upon receipt of your application, you will be contacted to set up a meeting. This opportunity allows you to meet with Volunteer Resources and discuss your skills, interests and availability, as well as learn about facility guidelines and available volunteer opportunities. Based on this discussion, a suitable placement will be arranged.
A security check and baseline health screening information must be completed prior to starting your placement, which may take several weeks. All volunteers are provided with an organization and facility orientation, followed by a department-specific orientation, when you begin your placement.
Thank you for your interest in volunteering with Alberta Health Services.
