To celebrate its golden anniversary, Alberta’s largest hospital pulled out all the stops with a week-long celebration June 16 – 22.
Celebrations of Foothills Medical Centre’s (FMC) 50th anniversary included:
- Opening ceremonies, including a live band, food and the opening of FMC’s time capsule, planted at the facility’s entrance in 1966
- Information displays highlighting different departments/areas/units across various locations throughout the Foothills site
- Historic photo gallery
- A site-wide Amazing Race, where staff teams participated in 10 challenges in programs and areas across the site
- Historic group Foothills ‘baby’ photo. The 300 or so participants ranged in age from a few days to 50. Prints can be purchased by emailing dolecko@telusplanet.net. Photos are also available for download:
- Closing ceremonies and a parade of more than 1,000 staff, physicians, volunteers and patients each representing their teams and departments
