Audiologists are hearing specialists. They evaluate and support infants, adults and children with hearing loss, ringing in the ear (tinnitus) and balance disorders.

What Do Audiologists Do?

  • Screen, identify, evaluate and diagnose hearing and balance disorders
  • Counsel, treat, and help manage/rehabilitate those with hearing concerns
  • Support families, educators, caregivers and others to help individuals with hearing loss improve their hearing, communication and hearing health
  • Assess and treat individuals for cochlear implantation
  • Prescribe, fit and dispense hearing aids and other amplification and hearing assistance technologies
  • Perform ear or hearing-related surgical monitoring
  • Promote hearing health
  • Collaborate with and refer to other agencies and professionals
