Vascular Risk Reduction (VRR) Project
The VRR program is a prototypical Strategic Clinical Network Activity bringing diverse groups, interests and expertise together with the common purpose of reducing vascular risk. It consists of a series of phased – in projects aimed at identifying and managing unrecognized risk factors, and improving management of risk factors that are diagnosed but not optimally managed. These projects include screening and management opportunities in pharmacy and workplace, screening and prevention in primary care, an integrated vascular risk reduction approach, enhanced lipid result reporting, and knowledge translation. Long term goals include reduction of vascular disease and other chronic disease such as diabetes and cancer, and reduced death and disability in Alberta. Partners include multiple SCNs (Cardiovascular Health and Stroke, Obesity, Diabetes, Nutrition, Cancer, Addiction and Mental Health, Seniors), as well as Toward Optimized Practice (TOP), University of Alberta, and University of Calgary.
