A new user-friendly and easier-to-navigate website to help Albertans access addiction and mental health information is now available.

“The new design will make it simpler for patients, families, staff and physicians to find information,” says Dr. Nicholas Mitchell, Provincial Medical Director with Addiction and Mental Health.

The redesign was developed in-house based on feedback from patients, families, Provincial Health Advisory Council on Addiction and Mental Health, staff and physicians.

“We really wanted to have end-user advice on the design to make sure we were providing information in a way that was easy to understand and made sense to all Albertans,” says Dr. Mitchell.

“It is increasingly important to have addiction and mental health information on the website,” says Geoff Tagg, chair of the Provincial Advisory Council on Addiction and Mental Health. “While it not only provides information, but sometimes can help remove the stigma surrounding addiction and mental health, because of its relative anonymity.

“There is one absolutely critical element in design or redesign — it must be user-friendly and simple to navigate. People seeking information this way may often be quite ill, confused or technologically challenged.”
