Environmental Health Services

Environmental Health Programs are mandated by legislation and operate under Alberta Health Services with the obligation to provide services as required by the Public Health Act and Regulations and other applicable legislation. Public Health Inspectors are designated as executive officers for the purpose of carrying out the provisions of the Public Health Act and Regulations.

Programs and Services offered include:
* Communicable Disease Control (CDC)which covers:
- Animal Bites (Rabies)
- Food Poisoning (e.g. Salmonella)
- Water Borne Diseases (e.g. Beaver Fever)
- Communicable Disease Outbreaks

* Healthy Environments which covers:
- Safe Air (e.g. outdoor environments, waste disposal, sewage disposal, nuisances)
- Safe Built Environments (e.g. indoor environments, rental housing, work camps, personal service facilities, daycares)

* Safe Food & Water which covers:
- Food Safety (e.g. Food Establishment Inspections, Food Permits, Safe Food Handling Courses)
- Safe Drinking Water (e.g. sampling results, public advisories)
- Safe Recreational Water (e.g. sampling results, pool operators education)
