Calgary Diversion Service - Mental Health

Alternate names: CDS

Offers offenders who have a mental illness diversion from the Justice System to the Mental Health System. Assesses people and offers help to identify goals and needs, links to agencies or services, and recommends charges are withdrawn if goals are met.

Available to

For adults 18 and older and youth (12 years to 18 years) who have an Axis 1 mental illness and are charged with a less serious criminal offence.

Accessing the service - more information:

Call the program to start a referral. All diversions must be approved by the Crown Prosecutor’s office before sentencing or plea.

Referral needed

A referral is needed to access this service. Call for more information.

Formal referral must be sanctioned by a Crown Prosecutor.
