Adult Day Support Program

Alternate names: ADSP

Offers day or evening programs 1 to 2 times a week for adults in Calgary and rural areas around Calgary. Provides up to 6 hours of respite for caregivers of adults with:

  • physical challenges
  • memory challenges
  • a chronic illness

The program offers:

  • meals and snacks
  • recreation programs
  • activities and exercises
  • rest breaks
  • basic personal care
  • blood pressure and weight monitoring
  • help with giving medicines 

Available to

You must be a Home Care client over the age of 18.

If you are interested in the program, talk to your Home Care community care coordinator.

Referral needed

You need a referral from a community care coordinator.


There might be a charge for your hot lunch when you go to any Alberta Health Services (AHS) adult day support program (ADSP), depending on your income. You have to get yourself to an from the session (e.g., transportation cost, cost of Access Calgary services).

Once you are admitted to the program, you will find out how much you have to pay. AHS may waive the co-payment.
