Inpatient Cardiology
Provides the assessment, treatment and education of patients diagnosed with a variety of cardiac conditions (e.g. diagnosis of unstable angina, myocardial infarction, cardiac valvular abnormalities, rhythm abnormalities, heart failure, etc.).
In Patient Cardiology unit is a 20-bed in-patient unit with an additional 8 angioplasty recovery beds. The angioplasty room is operational Monday to Friday for the recovery patients following Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI). The unit has a strict quiet period for all patients between 1pm and 3pm daily and we ask visitors to respect this time.
The Unit works closely with other departments such as, Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Cardiac Catheterization Lab, Cardiac clinics, Diagnostic Imaging and the Emergency Department. Telemetry monitoring is available for the cardiac patients on the unit.
