Health For Two

Provides prenatal information, nutrition supplements (such as milk coupons and prenatal vitamins), connections to community services, and support to at risk women during their pregnancy and following the birth of their baby. Women in the program have social and economic risks to a healthy pregnancy such as teen pregnancy, low income, poor nutrition, smoking, substance use, language or cultural barriers, or violence in their relationship.

Health for Two is available in Edmonton, St. Albert, Leduc County, Fort Saskatchewan, Parkland County, and Strathcona County.

Available to

Pregnant women with social or economic risks to healthy pregnancy, during pregnancy and following the birth up to 2 months of age.

Service providers

Public Health Nurses in Alberta Health Services, as well as staff of community agencies, including social workers, youth workers, child development or outreach workers (varies by site).

Service partners

Health for Two is offered through a partnership of community agencies and Public Health Centres. The program is sponsored by the Public Health Agency of Canada (funding from the Canada Prenatal Nutrition Program is held at Boyle Street Community Services), Alberta Health Services, and in-kind support from over 30 community agencies.
