Community Genetics

This service is an outreach component of the Medical Genetics Clinic at Alberta Children's Hospital, Calgary and the Edmonton Genetics Clinic, University of Alberta, Edmonton. Clients are seen by a Geneticis in Edmonton or Calgary or at a monthly outreach clinic in Red Deer. The Genetics Outreach Nurse does preappointment work up as well as supportive counselling and follow - up.
Referral needed
Referrals are accepted from professionals including doctors, public health nurses as well as concerned individuals or families by contacting the Genetics Outreach Nurse or the Medical Genetics Clinics at Alberta Children's Hospital or University of Alberta hospital. Other than a letter of referral there is no documentation required for initial contact.
