Cancer - Services

Alberta Breast Cancer Screening Program

The primary goal of the ABCSP is to reduce the mortality rate of women in Alberta from breast cancer through a population based early detection program. The ABCSP recommends that average-risk women aged 50-74 be screened every two years with mammography.

The Alberta Colorectal Cancer Screening Program (ACRCSP) is an organized provincial colorectal cancer screening program coordinated by Alberta Health Services in partnership with healthcare providers.

A unique program to offer dedicated stereotactic treatments for brain and extracranial sites.

Alberta Thoracic Oncology Program

Offers a timely, healthcare team assessment for people who may have lung cancer and facilitates initial treatment if required

Provides care for women who have a high risk of hereditary breast or ovarian cancer.

Birth Control Centre

Offers confidential services to teenage girls and women who cannot afford or access birth control.

Calgary Breast Health Program

Provides care to people with breast health issues including breast cancer.

Calgary Supportive Care for Cancer Patients - Counselling Services

Services to help patients and their families cope with the emotional, psychological and social stresses that often surface as a result of cancer and its treatment.

Calgary Supportive Care for Cancer Patients - Resource Counselling

Counselling for cancer patients to help them meet their basic needs.

Cancer Information Centre

Library and information services are provided for patients, families, and friends.

Cancer Patient Navigation and Tumor Triage Coordination

Provides support by explaining treatments, tests, and choices so cancer patients can prepare for visits and by improving the coordination of care.

Cancer Treatment and Care - Associate Cancer Centres

Alberta Associate Cancer Centres provide cancer care and treatment to patients in their home communities.

Cancer Treatment and Care - Community Cancer Centres

Alberta Community Cancer Centres provide cancer care and treatment to patients in or near their home communities.

Cancer View Canada

Service provides online cancer information.

Cervical Cancer Screening

Offers cervical cancer screening tests for women who are having financial challenges and/or cultural barriers.

Cervical Health Program

Offers cervical cancer testing (Pap tests).

Chemotherapy Class

Provides patient information sessions about chemotherapy.

Chemotherapy / Systemic Cancer Treatments

Information about drugs used to treat cancer.

Clinical Breast Health Program

Provides education, information, resources, and support to people with breast cancer or suspected breast cancer.

Colon Cancer Screening Center

Focuses on the screening and detection of colon cancer.


Provides visual examination of the lining of the large intestine.

Colposcopy Clinic

Provides screening, diagnostics and treatment for patients referred with abnormal cervical cytology results.

Colposcopy Outpatient Clinic

Provides assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for women with abnormal pap test results that are screened for cancer of the cervix.

Comprehensive Breast Care Program

This program offers timely, consistent accessible care to individuals with suspicion of or diagnosis of breast cancer. The goal is to ensure steamless, integrated, patient-centered, high quality breast health care.

Department of Psychosocial and Spiritual Resources - Arts in Medicine

Classes in creative expression that are available for cancer patients and family members. Individual counselling is also available by a Professional Art Therapist

This program provides psychological, social and spiritual support to cancer patients and their families.

Department of Psychosocial and Spiritual Resources - Support Groups

Provides group support sessions for cancer patients and their family members.

Provides one-to-one counselling for cancer patients and their family members.

Department of Psychosocial and Spiritual Resources- Social Work Services

This service provides support through important decisions and practical concerns. They can also help find and arrange needed services wtihin the hospital and the community.

Diagnostic Mammography Services

Service providing diagnostic mammograms.

Dyspnea Clinic

Service for people with cancer who are short of breath because of a pleural effusion.


A class for people with cancer who feel very tired (cancer-related fatigue). Family members and support people are welcome.

HPV Immunization

Provides a vaccine (Gardasil) to help protect people from human papillomavirus (HPV).

Healing Connections Breast Cancer Program

Provides support and education for people going through breast cancer surgery.

Hematology - Inpatients

Provides inpatient care for people in the hospital with blood diseases.

Hematology - Outpatients

Care and services for hematology patients, including patient education.

Hematology / Oncology - Outpatients

Assesses, diagnoses, and treats people with blood disorders and cancer.

Hereditary Cancer Clinic, Genetic Services

The Hereditary Cancer Clinic provides genetic risk assessment, counselling and genetic testing for Southern Albertans and their families who are affected or at risk for a hereditary cancer syndrome. The Hereditary Cancer Clinic service goals are to facilitate cancer management decisions, and recommend optimal screening and cancer prevention strategies for affected individuals and high risk families.

High Resolution Anoscopy Clinic

Screening for anal cancer in HIV positive men.

KIDCLOT Thrombosis & Anticoagulation Program, Pediatric

To consult on and provide expert care to children and their families with or at risk of developing unhealthy blood clots.

Look Good Feel Better

Offers support for women who are being treated for cancer.

Margery E. Yuill Cancer Centre

Assessment, treatment and support for Cancer patients.

Mind Your Memory

This is a patient education class for those cancer patients experiencing difficulties with memory or concentration as a result of their cancer disease or cancer treatments.

Moving Forward

Head and Neck cancer treatment and recovery can be complex and sometimes confusing. To assist patients with cancers of the head and neck through this challenging experience, they are invited to attend this education class.

New Patient Information Session

Orientation to the Cross Cancer Institute for all new patients, their families and friends.

Nuclear Medicine

Uses a special camera to take pictures of tissues and organs in the body.


A Registered Dietitian provides cancer patients with nutrition information to help maximize the benefits of treatment.

Occupational Therapy

Occupational therapy assists cancer patients to achieve goals related to independence, productivity, and quality of life. Occupational therapy is available to both inpatients and outpatients.

The oncology program at the Stollery is the Northern Alberta children?s cancer care program that works with children with Cancer.

Outpatient Cancer Drug Benefit Program

The Outpatient Cancer Drug Benefit Program (OCDBP) provides, without charge, cancer drugs to registered Alberta cancer patients.

Palliative Radiation Oncology Clinic

Provides palliative radiotherapy in conjunction with multidisciplinary supportive care to patients with metastatic cancer.

Pediatric Blood and Marrow Transplant Services

Provides blood and marrow transplantation to children.

Pediatric Hematology

This outpatient clinic cares for children in and around Calgary with known or suspected hematological disorders.

Pediatric Hematology

Provides inpatient and outpatient assessment, treatment, and follow-up for children who have conditions and disorders of the blood.

Provides spiritual support for patients in the hospital and their families.

Pulmonary Medicine Inpatient Unit

Provides care to adults with lung disease and to those who need long-term ventilator support. Also cares for patients who are having/have had a lung transplant.

Radiation Therapy Treatments

Provides radiation therapy.

Rehabilitation Oncology

Provides rehabilitation services and lymphedema management for cancer patients.

SCOPE Program

Provides Colorectal cancer screening to Albertans residing in the Edmonton zone.

Clinic for patients in rural communities having problems with pain or other cancer symptoms who do not have access to specialists locally.

Van Shuttle Service

Provides free shuttle service for people from out of town who are staying at hotels or bed and breakfasts in Edmonton to appointments at the Cross Cancer Institute.

WestView Women's Health Clinic

Service for women who don?t have a family doctor or who want to talk to a female doctor about their sexual and reproductive needs.

Wig Service and Hair Alternatives

Offers wigs for loan to cancer patients.

Women's Wellness Clinic

Health service that focuses on women's health issues.
