About Us

The Halvar Jonson Centre for Brain Injury (HJCBI) is located in the Centennial Centre for Mental Health and Brain Injury in Ponoka, Alberta.

Our program provides a safe, supportive environment for patients and family members during their rehabilitation.

HJCBI is a long-term rehabilitation service that assists persons with moderate to severe acquired brain injury, including both traumatic and non-traumatic injury.

We are a provincial resource that can be accessed by anyone in Alberta who meets the admission criteria.

The program has inpatient beds for long-term rehabilitation designed for people with a moderate to severe non-progressive acquired brain injury between the ages of 16 – 65. This includes traumatic injuries or non-traumatic injuries such as strokes or aneurysms.
