In his role as Interim Vice President, Corporate Services and Chief Financial Officer, Robert Hawes leads the areas of Financial Planning, Financial Operations, Contracting, Procurement and Supply Management (CPSM), Information Technology (IT), Capital Management, Planning and Performance and administrative oversight for Internal Audit & Enterprise Risk Management. His focus is on building AHS’ financial sustainability into the future.
Robert is a Chartered Accountant with more than 30 years of learning and experience in various finance roles. He has expertise in the planning, monitoring, reporting and governance accountability cycle. Robert recently received his designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors and has served on several boards in his capacity as an AHS senior leader: Calgary Health Trust, Liability and Property Insurance Plan and Calgary Laboratory Services.
Robert loves the caring culture in health care. He joined the Alberta health care system in 1997 following careers at the Office of the Auditor General of Alberta and various public accounting firms in Vancouver, Edmonton and Brisbane (Australia).
He currently lives in Calgary with Darlene, his wife of 32 years. They are both active as mentors in their church and enjoy the great outdoors; particularly the mountains and the ocean.
