For the eighth annual Kidney March Patient Exercise Challenge, the Southern Alberta Renal Program is joining forces with the Northern Alberta Renal Program to bring renal patients from across the province together for the first time in our new, exciting teamwork challenge, the Parks Canada Adventure.
In honour of Canada's 150th birthday, hemodialysis patients from across Alberta will follow a route more than 22,000 km long, which will take the patients through every single national park in our great nation, from the frozen north to coastal rainforests to hidden river valleys and beyond, celebrating interesting places and astonishing natural beauty.
The patients from numerous hemodialysis units will work together to achieve their goals and improve their overall health and happiness, both by exercising during their dialysis treatments and by living more active lives.
