Preventing Injuries, Get the Facts - Youth

Injury Prevention and Safety, Preventing Injuries Toolkit

Injuries are a leading cause of morbidity for Albertans aged 1-24 and the leading cause of mortality. In Alberta, injuries kill more youth - 13-24 year olds - than all other causes combined. Compared to all other age groups youth have the highest, rate injury deaths.

Although both teens and young adults are at high risk for injury, these two sub-groups are very different developmentally, legally, and environmentally. The information provided in this toolkit currently focuses on teens (13-17 year olds).
