AHS invites the public to join a virtual ride-along during one of EMS’ busiest nights of the year

CALGARY – Alberta Health Services (AHS) is offering a unique perspective of the Calgary Stampede through a virtual ride-along with front line Emergency Medical Services (EMS) staff.

Every year, calls to EMS rise as much as 25 per cent during the 10-day event as tens of thousands of people head out to celebrate Calgary’s western heritage.

AHS Communications staff will be embedded with a paramedic crew in Calgary for its entire 12-hour shift and will post photographs and information as it happens, on the @ahs_media Twitter account.

The virtual ride-along will take place on Wednesday, July 8, 2015, from 4 p.m. to 4 a.m. The public can follow the action at any time on twitter.com/ahs_media; a Twitter account is not required. Ride-along tweets will use the hashtag #AHSEMS.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
