More than $1 million invested in community health centre

VULCAN — More than $1 million has been invested in the Vulcan Community Health Centre.

Two hot water boilers were replaced, a new fire alarm system was installed and the doors at the front entry were upgraded.

“Projects like these help maintain our facilities and ensure our patients stay well,” says Brenda Huband, AHS Vice President and Chief Health Operations Officer, Central & Southern Alberta. “It is also vital we keep our healthcare infrastructure up to date.”

Some funding for these projects comes from the Government of Alberta’s Infrastructure Maintenance Program (IMP).

“Albertans need the right care, in the right place, at the right time, delivered by the right individuals with the right information,” says Sarah Hoffman, Minister of Health. “We committed to manage and improve health infrastructure and capital across Alberta, and projects like upgrading the heating system and fire alarm system at the Vulcan Community Health Centre are an example of the type of work we’re prepared to do to make sure people can get the care they need in their communities.”

Alberta Health Services (AHS), in partnership with Alberta Infrastructure and Alberta Health, is building and renewing facilities across the province to provide accessible, sustainable, quality healthcare to all Albertans. AHS currently has about 600 maintenance projects underway throughout the province.

Taking into account the diverse needs of Albertans, AHS is strategically investing in the health system to support patients and communities to stay healthy and manage illness effectively.

AHS maintains more than 450 facilities throughout the province, including hospitals, clinics, continuing care facilities, mental health facilities and community health sites.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
