Tofield Health Centre heliport temporarily closed during roof repairs

January 3, 2018

TOFIELD – The heliport at Tofield Health Centre will be temporarily closed to allow for planned roof repairs to be safely completed at the facility.

During this time, all STARS helicopters will land at the nearby Tofield airport, which is approximately nine minutes away. Ground ambulances will be used to transport patients to and from the health centre and airport.

This is common practice in other communities across the province. It is a safe option.

The $500,000 roof project at the Tofield Health Centre will replace the aging roof, provide insulation to current standards, and replace skylights and all drains. Funding for this project comes from the Government of Alberta’s Infrastructure Maintenance Program (IMP).

Work on the roof will not impact any staff or public parking or access to entrances. Roof repairs are expected to be completed in late February at which time the heliport will re-open.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
