Construction work continues at Tofield Health Centre

TOFIELD – Work to replace the aging roof at the Tofield Health Centre is progressing, despite delays due to inclement winter weather, and further upgrades to the site will begin this spring.

Ongoing roof repairs should be completed later this month. The heliport at the Tofield Health Centre, which temporarily closed Jan. 3 to allow for the repairs, will reopen once the new roof is completed. Until the heliport reopens, all STARS helicopters will continue to land at the nearby Tofield airport, located nine minutes away. Ground ambulances are used to transport patients to and from the health centre and airport.

Repair work on the facility’s foundation will begin this month and will resolve issues with water seepage. The work is expected to be completed by fall.

These foundation repairs will affect access to the parking lots and loading dock in the coming months. Deliveries will be re-routed through the site. Motorists are asked to please slow down when approaching or driving in construction areas and to obey all posted signs. For their safety, pedestrians are also asked to obey all posted signs when entering and exiting the facility due to construction traffic.

Funding for this project comes from the Government of Alberta’s Infrastructure Maintenance Program (IMP).

The facility’s main parking lot will continue to be designated for patients, families and other visitors during this time. Staff will be asked to park offsite in neighbouring residential areas. Site management and contractors would like to thank the community and staff for their patience throughout this project.
