Patients and public asked to use new entrance after hours

June 27, 2018

WAINWRIGHT – A new after-hours entrance to the Wainwright Health Centre emergency department will be available to patients and the public, as upgrades to the facility progress.

Starting Friday, June 29 at 8 p.m. anyone who needs to access the emergency department after hours must use the nearby west entrance. The current main entrance will be open during regular hours, but after 8 p.m. it will be closed to the public. Signage will be on site to direct patients and public to the entrance.

To ensure we’re meeting the needs of patients now and in future, Alberta Health Services undertook the renovations to expand the emergency department and construct a new ambulance bay.  Construction is expected to be completed later this year.

Staff and contractors would like to thank the community for their patience throughout this project.

This project is being led by AHS Capital Management and funded through the Government of Alberta’s Infrastructure Maintenance Program. Taking into account the diverse needs of Albertans, the Government of Alberta and AHS is strategically investing in the health system to support patients and communities to stay healthy and manage illness effectively.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
