Access Mental Health service now available to all residents in AHS Calgary Zone

CALGARY – All residents living in the Calgary Zone of Alberta Health Services (AHS) now have a single point of telephone contact to help them access addiction and mental health resources.

Access Mental Health – a non-urgent telephone service available weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. – recently expanded and is now available to all zone residents living outside the city of Calgary.

Program clinicians – who are familiar with both AHS and community-based programs – will explore options with callers and direct or refer them to the most appropriate local resource to meet their needs. Resources include addiction and mental health clinics in Airdrie, Banff, Black Diamond, Bragg Creek, Calgary, Canmore, Chestermere, Cochrane, Didsbury, High River, Okotoks and Strathmore.

Zone residents living outside Calgary can reach Access Mental Health toll-free at 1-844-943-1500. Non-urgent voicemail messages can be left after hours and will be returned the next business day. Calgary residents can continue to call Access Mental Health at 403-943-1500.

Alberta Health Services is the provincial health authority responsible for planning and delivering health supports and services for more than four million adults and children living in Alberta. Its mission is to provide a patient-focused, quality health system that is accessible and sustainable for all Albertans.
