Information For

Pregnant Individuals

The risk of getting COVID-19 and having serious complications is higher than the risk of being immunized during pregnancy. The mRNA COVID-19 vaccines are the safest type of COVID-19 vaccine to get during pregnancy. Learn more in COVID-19 Immunization in Pregnancy and COVID-19 and Pregnancy, Birth, Postpartum, and Breastfeeding: Information for Expectant and New Parents.

Homebound Individuals

AHS is providing COVID-19 immunization to homebound Albertans. Homebound is defined as anyone who is physically unable to leave their home, such as for medical or personal appointments. AHS will reach out to eligible clients to book an appointment. If you think you are eligible to receive the COVID-19 vaccine at home but you are not a Home Care client, please call Health Link at 811.

Congregate Care Facilities

Residents living in a care home, lodge or other congregate care facility, regardless of age, will be contacted directly by their care team and do not need to book their own appointment. This only applies to complexes where residents have communal dining and do not have their own apartments / homes and condos.

Prepare For Your Appointment

  • We ask that all individuals wait in their cars until 5 minutes before their appointment and not arrive more than 10 minutes early.
  • Bring one piece of identification with you that proves your age, which could include your Alberta Health Care card, a driver's license, Social Insurance Number, birth certificate, or passport.
  • Wear clothing that will easily allow access to your upper arm for receiving the immunization.
  • Need transportation? Reach out to 211.
  • If you have needle fear or concerns about pain associated with immunization, learn more.

Learn more in our Frequently Asked Questions.

Note: We anticipate high demand for appointments and we ask everyone to be patient. We know many Albertans are anxious to get immunized. We are immunizing Albertans as quickly as we can, based on vaccine supply.
