Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the online booking tool and how do I use it?

A: The Alberta Health Services (AHS) COVID-19 immunization online booking tool is now available for identified eligible healthcare workers to book their COVID-19 immunization appointments online from their phones or computers.

Healthcare workers eligible to receive the COVID-19 immunization will receive an email with a unique link to go online and book their appointment to get immunized.

The link provided to each eligible healthcare worker is a one-time link that will no longer be valid after an appointment is booked. This is put in place to help ensure the right people are being booked in for their immunizations at the right time, based on the criteria outlined by Alberta Health.

Q: Who can use the online booking tool?

A: AHS staff and healthcare partners deemed eligible to receive COVID-19 immunization will receive an email with a unique link to go online and book their appointment to get immunized.

Currently, the tool is available to healthcare workers only but AHS is looking at options for expanding the tool as our COVID-19 response continues and more Albertans become eligible to receive the vaccine.

Q: I’ve received my first dose, and I’m not sure about what to do about the second dose?

A: In order for AHS to respond to the recently announced reductions in Pfizer vaccine in the upcoming weeks, adjustments are being made to the COVID-19 vaccine implementation plan.

Anyone whose appointment is being postponed or rescheduled will be contacted directly by AHS via email, and then a text or automated call. An email will also be sent to staff and physicians when they are able to rebook appointments. Staff and physicians are asked to not call Health Link at this time.

Vaccine has been reserved to ensure that we are able to provide second doses to all long term care and designated supportive living residents. We will also be using available vaccine to provide second doses to staff and physicians within the allowable window. Our goal is to provide second doses within the 42 days as directed by Alberta Health and recommended by the National Advisory Committee on Immunization.

We are working diligently to vaccinate as many people as possible as quickly as possible, with available product and will continue to communicate openly and transparently.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through details.

Q: How do I reschedule my second dose appointment?

A: An email will be sent to staff and physicians when they are able to rebook appointments. Staff and physicians are asked to not call Health Link at this time.

Q: I am eligible but have not yet been contacted. What can I do?

A: We know everyone is anxiously awaiting to receive the vaccine. It takes time for AHS staff to contact everyone in each eligible group. Please be patient if you have not yet received your email. If you feel you have been missed in your phase, please reach out your manager or supervisor.

Q: Why was this tool developed?

A: The online tool allows eligible healthcare workers to book their COVID-19 immunization appointments online quickly and easily from their phones or computers.

The booking tool will help speed up our immunization process and contribute to our goal of getting more Albertans immunized faster.

Q: What if I do not regularly check my AHS email?

A: To enable AHS to reach out to staff and physicians as quickly as possible, it is critical that staff ensure their contact information in e-people is up to date with accurate contact information including the email most regularly used.

Q: Can I share the link with my colleagues who have not yet been contacted to book their appointment?

A: The link provided to each eligible healthcare worker is a one-time link that expires after an appointment is booked. This is put in place to help ensure the right people are being booked in for their immunizations at the right time, based on the criteria outlined by Alberta Health.

Q: I lost my email link to book my vaccine appointment. What can I do?
