The ED Status Board tab is the default view in Emergency Care. You can toggle between ED Status Board and the Patient List here.

Patient List

x

 

The Patient List can still be accessed to create special lists for patient follow up, education purposes, etc. Special lists cannot be generated from the ED Status Board.

 

 

 

Icons

x

 

Two new icons appear in Emergency Care:

 

REPAC (Real-time Emergency Patient Access and Co-ordination): Uses real-time information from zone emergency departments and urgent care centres to display patient volumes, incoming EMS volumes, and the severity of patient conditions.

 

Expects Tool: Creates a pre-registration in Emergency Care for patients that have not yet arrived in the ED, or that will be returning later.

Refresh

The ED Status Board refreshes itself every 30 seconds. The last refresh time is noted at the right of the tab.

Views

x

 

Use the Department and View menus to change your view.

 

Different views are available based on specific user profiles. Use the View drop-down menu to filter patients according to the area you are working in or patient status (e.g., intake, inactive patients, expected patients).

 

After patients are removed from the ED Status Board (i.e. discharged), they will remain on the Inactive Patients list for 24 hours post discharge.

 

 

 

Columns

x

 

Columns can be sorted in ascending or descending order. Click any column header to sort the column. Click it a second time to reverse the sort order.

 

 

Treatment Spaces

x

 

Each unoccupied treatment space is colour-coded to denote its condition:

 

 

= clean
 

= dirty
 

= blocked

      

 

Buttons

x

 

Buttons at the bottom of the tab provide extra functionality:

 

  • Refresh: Refreshes the ED Status Board.
  • Settings: Used to change the refresh rate or font.
  • Find Patient: Search by name or RHRN to locate any patient's information and visit details.
  • Add Patient: Used by triage to add a patient to the ED Status Board.
  • Personnel Assignment: Used by unit clerks to create the daily list of ED physicians on shift.
  • Quick Launch Doc(s): Used to launch structured notes for triage.
  • Floor View: Shows a map-like view of the treatment spaces and is available only in flow views.

User Filter Maintenance

Click User Filter Maintenance to clear or apply filters to the patient list.

 

To apply a filter, select the filter you want (e.g., ED MD) and click .

To remove the filter, select Clear Currently Applied Filters and click .

 

The default for the ALL-MD view is the EDMD Filter, which shows only patients that are unassigned and those assigned to you. All other views must have the filter applied manually, which will stay in place until logged out or changed.
