Clinical Indications: | Identification of abnormal physiologic states causing excess or suppressed excretion of calcium, such as hyperparathyroidism, vitamin D abnormality, diseases that destroy bone, prostate cancer and drug treatment such as thiazide therapy. | ||

Specimen Collection Requirements: | See 24 Hour Urine Collection - Patient Instructions for detailed instructions. If random urine calcium, phosphate and/or magnesium are ordered in addition to other urine chemistry tests, these 3 tests require a separate accession number and are placed in a separate container. This alternate (i.e. second) container has been designated Sterile Container #2. | ||
