Additional Test Information:

PATIENT PREPARATION:
- Fast for a minimum of 8 hours (unless otherwise requested by the physician).
- Fasting is defined as nothing to eat, chew or drink other than small amounts of water.
- A Glucose Tolerance Test is not required to confirm diagnosis of diabetes mellitus if fasting glucose is >= 7.0 mmol/L on two occasions.
- Refer to the Canadian Diabetes Guidelines (2013) for additional information.
