Specimen Collection Requirements: | Unacceptable Samples · Superficial swabs · Samples collected via sites containing normal flora: eg. Bowel, urethra, vagina, cervix, rectum, perianal area, mouth, throat Lethbridge and Area - Peritoneal Dialysates: · Dialysate bags are NOT acceptable for culture. · Inoculate 10 mL of dialysate in an aerobic and 10 mL into an anaerobic bottle · Also Submit 5 mL in a red top vacutainer Specimen Storage: Refrigerate Lethbridge and Area - Peritoneal Dialysates: Room temperature Deliver to Lab immediately.
