Specimen Collection Requirements: | Use a povidone-iodine swab to cleanse the venipuncture site. DO NOT use alcohol. If approved non-alcohol containing swabs are not available and/or the patient has a related allergy to them, it is acceptable to use soap and warm water to cleanse the site for ethanol collections. Exposure of sample to air must be minimal to prevent evaporation of ethanol. Ensure that tube is as full as possible (>90% preferred).
