Specimen Collection Requirements: | Collect a full tube for minimal head space. Do not open tube. Exposure of sample to air must be minimized to prevent evaporation of ethanol. Due to its instability, not all add-ons will be accepted. Do not swab arm with alcohol. Use alternative, non-alcohol containing swab. If approved non-alcohol containing swabs are not available and/or the patient has a related allergy to them, it is acceptable to use soap and warm water to cleanse the site for ethanol collections. | ||
Processing: | Spin sample ASAP. Do not open tube or pour off plasma serum. Send original tube intact. | ||
