Specimen Collection Requirements: | Collect 30-60 minutes after end of infusion, or 1-2 hours post IM administration when at steady state. Steady state approximately 1 day (prolonged with impaired renal function). Complete therapeutic drug monitoring information on requisition. Specimens must be in Laboratory by 1500h Monday to Friday, or 1130h on weekends and holidays for same-day analysis. Best practise is to not draw from an intravenous line through which the drug has been administered as it can produce erroneous results and impact patient care. If best practice is not possible, prior consultation with the most responsible health practitioner is required. | ||
