Specimen Collection Requirements: | Disinfection of collection site must be done with Iodine or Benzalkonium wipes (non-alcohol germicidal solution). If approved non-alcohol containing swabs are not available and/or the patient has a related allergy to them, it is acceptable to use soap and warm water to cleanse the site for ethanol collections. | ||
Processing: | Centrifuge immediately if collected in MINT LIHEP PST. Allow sample to clot for 30 minutes if collected in a GOLD SST. Do not remove the cap prior to analysis.
