Specimen Collection Requirements: | Microscopy and Culture Direct (bedside) smear on a glass slide, air dried (touch prep or tissue smear) AND Tissue (biopsy- liver, spleen, lymph nodes) or aspirate (bone marrow), collected in a sterile container with a small volume of saline (for instructions click on the link below) IMPORTANT - SHIP SPECIMENS DIRECTLY TO PROV LAB AT ROOM TEMPERATURE, WITHIN 24 HOURS OF COLLECTION. Serology 5 mL serum separator tube (SST) or pediatrics may use 2 mL red top tube. For k39 testing only: Store at 2-8°C for up to 3 days, otherwise store at or below -20°C until tested. | ||
