IgM will only be performed if clinical history of suspected rash illness or acute infection is provided on the requisition. Clinical history is required for Parvovirus PCR test. | ||
Processing: | Samples should be sent to the ProvLab with minimal delay, or stored at 4° C in a fridge if a delay is unavoidable. | ||

Additional Test Information: | For immunocompromised patients, e.g. transplant recipients, the IgM serological response may be absent. Suspected parvovirus infection, usually in the form of chronic anemia or neutropenia, can be diagnosed by PCR testing of a bone marrow aspirate. | ||
