Specimen Collection Requirements: | 24 hour urine collection. No preservative. Refrigerate during collection. PSC: 50 mL aliquot RRL & extra-regional: 10 mL aliquot added to preservative (see Processing Information below) | ||
Processing: | Record salt intake (if provided by physician). Record 24 hour volume and collection (start and end) dates and times on requisition. PSC: Send 50 mL aliquot with no preservative and unfrozen. Upon receipt in Immunochemistry, 10 mL of urine will be mixed with 0.1 gram of boric acid. If testing will not be performed within 5 days of collection, freeze. RRL & extra-regional: After measuring volume add 10 mL of well mixed urine to a tube containing 0.1 gram boric acid (obtained from Immunochemistry at 403-770-3267). Mix well to dissolve the boric acid. Refrigerate until specimen is transported. | ||
