Specimen Collection Requirements: | Fluid must be mixed thoroughly by inverting gently several times before aliquoting into a screw cap tube. | ||
Processing: | Fluid specimens that are turbid or bloody must be centrifuged before analysis. For samples referred to UAH: Send refrigerated if sample to be received at UAH lab within 24 hours of collection. Otherwise, sample should be spun, aliquoted and sent frozen. Stool for Osmolality: Stool for osmolality must be processed or frozen within 2 hours of collection. For samples referred to UAH: Stool samples must be frozen immediately and sent frozen. | ||
