Additional Test Information: | GFR is not an orderable procedure. In adults, glomerular filtration rate can be easily estimated using the CKD-EPI GFR equation. This formula uses the patient's age and gender with the measured blood creatinine value to estimate GFR, allowing patients with earlier stages of kidney disease to be identified. Blood Creatinine laboratory reports for all adult patients will include a report of GFR estimated by the CKD-EPI equation. Reduced muscle mass will lead to overestimation and increased muscle mass to underestimation of eGFR. eGFR < 60 mL/min/1.73m2 or urine Albumin/Creatinine ratio > 3 mg/mmol for more than 3 months suggests chronic kidney disease.
